New York Polaroids, 2006

Let's go back in time to 2006, when I was 18 and in love with NY for the first time...

New York Disposables

Since Polaroids seemed something from a Harry Potter book in Mahattan ('Polaroid? Waddya want them fowar? You got that fancy cemrah. We don' sell them heeh, not on this island anyways' etc etc) I had no choice but to go disposable. Even though I've got my lovely Nikon, I still want to have a raw quality to some of my pictures. Anyway, these are some that came out nicely, if I may say so myself.

Cocolada's Photography

Cocolada is only seventeen. Her images are gorgeous. She takes blends hazy nostalgia with punches of now and projects them so powerfully it hurts. With a preferance for 'bad quality digital cameras' and polaroid film, her photography is raw and personal. I love how detached her muses seem. It's like they don't care she's there; they'll carry on doing whatever the want. Or maybe they don't even notice her presence. Her portraits are honest, unapologetic and yet they seem so fragile. If I was this prolific at seventeen I would have done more than drink too much and talk about boys. I would have taken pictures of myself drinking too much and talking about boys.

Check out her Flickr profile and prepare yourself to be impressed. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cocoladas/3223420987/

Blogspotted: The Selby

You must, must, must go on this blog. The Selby is like The Sartorialist for interiors. It focuses on images taken in creative people's homes, stores, studios and everywhere in between. The photography is totally scrummy and the places... well, let's just say if you don't feel at least a twinge of jealousy there's something wrong with you. It's also a great place to get inspiration if you feel like giving your pad a little make over. I also love taking a sneak peek into other people's lives. Who knew bieng nosey could feel so delicious?
